What We Do

Hope Learning Centre (HLC)

Prey Thnang Commune, Cambodia

In August 2015, we relocated to our present premises in Chbar Amperi village. It is along the main village road and is more accessible. With the change, we were able to establish a Learning Centre in addition to the children’s welfare program.  We are able to serve 70 - 80 children of ages ranging from 6 - 14 years old with the following programs:

A QUALITY AFTER-SCHOOL LEARNING PROGRAM

A quality after-school learning program was developed to help the children reinforce their school studies in core academic subjects – Reading, English, Maths and Khmer language (Grades 1 - 6 ). This is integrated with an enrichment component that equips them with learning skills, enhances their life skills, nurtures positive character and values.

Our teacher-facilitators are role models that offer support and guidance. Attendance is free, not compulsory, and open to all regardless of race and religion.

Regular parent-teacher meetings

On a regular basis, the teachers will connect with the family to apprise them with the progress made by the children. The teachers will also find out the living situations of the family and provide the necessary support where needed.

Development and training of teacher-facilitators

The children that have graduated into Secondary education in the public schools are encouraged to use the Centre’s facilities for their continuing education. They are provided with self learning curriculum, online learning and where needed, private tuitions. For those progressing into higher education, the Centre would connect them to a community based program that extend pathways and scholarships into higher institutions of learning on a case basis.
